The 2008 Library & Information Literacy Workshop Series : An Invitation
Topic: Information Literacy

The St. Thomas of Villanova Libraries cordially invites you to the 2008 Library & Information Literacy Workshop Series.  The workshop series provides the SSC-R de Cavite community with opportunities to learn about new technologies, resources and issues affecting the changing information landscape.

  1. Lecture-Workshop on Information Literacy and Research Skills for Students. Information literacy comprises the abilities to find, evaluate, use and communicate information. In the 21st century, these complex abilities are more important than ever for today's students as they enter the world of work. The lecture-workshop for college students will be conducted in coordination with the Communication Arts Department on June 30 – July 4, 2008 at the College Auditorium. However, for high school students it will be incorporated in one of their activities conducted during library periods.

2.      Workshop on Information Searches Using Internet/Web-Based Resources. The Internet has established itself as an indispensable research tool and information source. Learn how to navigate the Internet efficiently and to harness the power of search engines, directories, and the "Invisible Web" to make your Internet searches yield high-quality results while taking less of your time. This interactive session will help you: formulate search strategies; locate and evaluate information; familiarize you with electronic resources; and learn how a skilled information professional can assist you!.  This lecture-workshop is open to all basic education teachers, college professors and students’ enrolled in Methods of Research
