The National Book Week Committee of the Philippine Librarians Association Inc. (PLAI) would like to announce the holding of various contests in celebration of the 74th anniversary of the National Book Week which will run from Nov 24-30, 2008.
This year's National Book Week theme is "BATANG PALABASA DALUBHASA SA KULTURA". According to Contest Committee Chair, Ms. Leonila Galvez, there will be four (4) contests this year, namely : STORYTELLING CONTEST of the book "Ang Pambihirang Buhok ni Lola" by Renee Villanueva. This is open to all Grade 4 to 6 students from the 14 divisions of the National Capital Region; ESSAY WRITING CONTEST which is open to secondary school students from the National Capital Region; POSTER-MAKING CONTEST which is open to college students of both public and private colleges and universities nationwide; and lastly, a BOOK PARADE CONTEST which is open to all elementary and secondary public or private schools in Metro Manila.
Registration of interested students for the storytelling, essay writing and book parade contests as well as the submission of entries for the poster-making contest will be for the period Sept 30 up to Oct 6, 2008.
